Pauloosie Kotak Aluku, "The Reluctant Bride"

One of the pioneers of Inuit sculpture, Pauloosie Kotak Aluku shows his mastery of the art form in this spectaculor piece. The piece is illustrated in Canadian Native Art by Nancy-Lou Patterson, Collier McMillan, 1973 and Eskimo Sculpture by George Swinton, McLelland and Stewart, 1965.

Abraham Etungat,
"Birds of Spring"

1911-1999. Abraham came from a family of accomplished artists. His wife, daughter and grandson are all talented carvers. Abraham was well know for his depiction of the bird of spring with wings outstretched.  Two seven foot bronze sculptures were created from one of his birds housed at the Glenbow Museum. The bronzes can been seen at Ryerson University in Toronto and the Vancouver Court House.
